Nka Foundation Opens Call for Entries for 4th Earth Architecture Competition
The Nka Foundation has announced a call for applications to its fourth Earth Architecture Competition. Seeking current design and architecture students and recent graduates, the competition challenges applicants to design a unit of a school using earth and other locally sourced materials in rural Ghana that costs no more than $8,000 (USD). Applicants must register by April 25, 2016 and submit entries by May 31, 2016.
Entries must consist of the following building types: “classrooms, offices for school administrators, library, laboratories, dorms for boarding students, cafeteria hall, teachers quarters, and sports ground for a population of 600 students [aged 12-18 years]. [Applicants] should design the type for construction by maximum use of earth and local labor.”
First, second, and third place in the competition will receive cash prizes. Honorable mentions may be awarded, but will not receive a monetary prize. Competition questions can be directed to email@example.com.
