Many Pieces; One Purpose — Community Mural Project Event on September 15
This Friday, September 15, Rich Alapack, the Chicago street artist and educator behind we all live here who was recently featured on The Fun Palace, will host, “Many Pieces; One Purpose,” a collaborative art event in conjunction with the West Loop Community Organization. Over the weekend, Alapack will lead community participants in building a 40′ by 40′ custom, collaborative mosaic made up of thousands of tiles from Daltile. we all live here uses art, community, and technology to encourage togetherness and community involvement as a means of overcoming hatred and division. The initiative originally worked with schools to develop public art projects across the city. This weekend’s mural project asks participants to purchase a tile, ride a scissor lift, and adhere it to the wall. All proceeds will go toward funding we all live here’s work in Chicago schools and West Loop’s Light Up Lake Street Initiative, a lighting installation designed to beautify and make Lake Street safer.
