Creative Strategist

The Creative Strategist at Dig Inn is responsible for bringing new ideas to life in every facet of the business.

By collaborating very closely with design, technology, HR (yup, we meant everything), and marketing departments, this agile operator guides creative concepts from inception through to detailed design and execution—all the while clearly articulating a logical path of action to make concepts a reality. Even more important than developing innovative ideas and creative collateral, is doing so in a way that maps organizational business goals to timeline constraints. This person is as much deep thinker as they are project manager.

The Creative Strategist has deep knowledge and expertise in all elements of the creative development process, and is capable of both executing deliverables and overseeing the work of junior designers and copywriters. As such, this person is often the overall creative leader on a project, but, importantly, they are also a mentor. Perhaps not in the same ways the captain of a ship is—hammering skills in carpentry, navigation, and rudimentary engineering. Rather, the Creative Strategist leads with inspiration and innovation, teaching their sailors not just how to build the ship, but to imagine and long for all the expansive possibilities of the sea.

Typically the Dig Inn Senior Creative Strategist is responsible for:

  • The overall success or failure of all creative strategies—this role is the lead on every project they staff (kinda heavy, yes, but you’re not alone)
  • Collaborating with design, marketing, and technology teams to define strategy for a given business goal—and presenting to senior executives
  • Structuring and leading creative brainstorms in order to ensure adherence to overall strategy; driving key decisions and communicating results to broader team
  • Collaborating with teams to ensure adherence of execution to original creative concept; leading iterations as necessary
  • Conducting targeted research into brand, competitive, or business whitespace
  • Leading development of materials required to support business development opportunities as required, including both written and creative deliverables

Requirements:

  • 6+ years experience in a Digital/Design Strategy role
  • 1+ years experience as a graphic designer (or similar), background in journalism is a plus
  • Proven track record of leading successful creative campaigns
  • Ability to interface with senior business executives and drive strategic decisions around key project milestones
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Ability to continually create improvement and actively contribute to a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration
  • Sweet attitude; real good vibes
  • Can and will crush vegetables
